Rather than sticking to an industry formula, Logic’s raps are more about social and economic injustices along with his own personal struggles. His 2007 release, Before the Storm contains songs like “R.I.P,” a track dedicated to the memory of his grandfather, a man who Logic fished with and talked to everyday on the phone. On the upcoming album track “Cold Blooded,” Logic deftly raps about his love for a girlfriend, Crystal, that we learn was also a love for the drug Crystal Meth, an addiction that almost took his life at 21 years of age.
